We live in a society where physical attributes matter a lot and hence, they must be maintained. It is not easy for women to keep up with the traditions and values of the society with respect to social standards. These social standards determine how a woman must look, behave and perceive in the society. However as the society is growing, women have started feeling more liberated and accepted.

Remember Simran from DDLJ? She was the epitome of Grace, beauty and most importantly change. Earlier, no woman had appeared on the silver screen with a Unibrow. Kajol’s Unibrow immediately became a trend after the release. All women are always expected to look pitch perfect, with body shaved, face threaded and what not. But in that era, Kajol challenged all the beauty standards set by the society. Unibrow was not a shame anymore, it was pride.

What is a Unibrow?

Wondering what is a Unibrow? Let the team of Girlossip educate you! A monobrow or a unibrow is an attribute that defines how the two eyebrows meet together, gulping the distance between them. Most people have two eye brows distinct from each other but parallel. However, people with joint eyebrows are termed as Unibrow. Synophrys is the medical term used for this physical attribute.

Most of us in school had unibrows, it is not unfamiliar to find unibrows on the faces of our classmates. Unibrow is considered a sign of innocence and virility. However it soon changed when the girls reached puberty. Then it was all about getting sharp twitch eyebrows like the ones models had in magazines and even the parlor aunties would encourage girls to do so. And that is how the saga of Unibrow would end. But in today’s scenario, things have drastically changed.

Signs of a Unibrow

When it comes to physical attributes and looks, women are assessed way more than men on several parameters which are not only toxic but also unbelievable. So girl, if you have a Unibrow, don’t be scared of it, own it.

But how to find out whether you are a Unibrow girl or not? The following signs will help you understand the signs of a Unibrow girl:

Faint type of hair between both brows

Eyebrow hair are joined in the middle

Thicker hair in the middle

Appearance of one long brow

No distinction between the eyebrows on the forehead

If you have all these physical attributes on your face, then you are a Unibrow girl!

Some interesting facts

Most often then not, every girl has a Unibrow which gets sacrificed due to superficial beauty standards created by the society. It is different when men have Unibrow but when women have it, it becomes a matter of significance. Hence, to fit in the closed boxes created by the society, women have had to shave their or thread or even wax their Unibrow.

Kajol in DDLJ & Kajol selfie (Photo Credits: File image, Instagram)

Furthermore, having a uniform makes one different from others. Eyebrow styles keep changing from one decade to another. Here are some interesting facts about the unibrows which you would have never heard before!

In ancient Greece, people got attracted to women having Unibrow because it was considered a mark of beauty and intelligence. Greek women even painted monobrow if they didn’t have them.

Unibrow plays a very important biological role, it helps in keeping rain and sweat out of the eyes.

It may seem unbelievable but many cultures even consider Unibrow as lucky, it is thought to be the sign of fertility.

DNA and science play a huge role in the determination of Unibrow.

In some cultures, there is a superstition that Unibrow is lucky. If a woman has a Unibrow, she will be fertile.

Tajikistan women use a leaf stamp to make the perfect shape of a Unibrow.

Let the Frida Kahlo in you come out!

Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter who was famous for having a bushy Unibrow. People admired her confidence the most and that is what led her to worldwide recognition and praise. Frida Kahlo’s Unibrow became a sensational attribute about her physical appearance. She painted self portraits which are still appreciated for their beauty. So if you are a Unibrow girl, you know who to look up to!

There’s science behind everything

Unibrow occurs partly due to the genetics and genetics are the most important reason for you having a Unibrow. However, how one grooms and takes care of their eyebrows also determine their shame. Continuous shaving, plucking, threading and waxing can lead to disappearance of Unibrow over a period of time.

Scientists say that there is a gene called PAX3 on chromosome 2 which creates a Unibrow. A difference in DNA can be evidently seen of people having Unibrow. Will you get a thick eyebrow or a thin one or sparse or dense one, it all depends on the genes of parents. This gene is also responsible for the beard in men.

Thicker or thinner?

It is not easy to pull off a Unibrow, you need confidence, faith and a nonjudgmental attitude to don it. As per the current trends, women are experimenting a lot with their eyebrows. Some have colored eyebrows while others have them totally shaved. Some like to think Unibrow while others fall for thin twitched pencil lines. Nowadays it is more about presence rather than what is expected. Many feminists, celebrities and influencers are posting challenges that are encouraging women to have eyebrows of their choice to increase acceptance for diversity.

So to have a thick Unibrow or thin one? You will have to see what suits your face the best. Initially let them grow , and see what they look like. Eventually and swiftly, you will get the hang of it.

Perks of being a Unibrow girl

It is often said that Unibrows are ugly, they make women look untidy and unhealthy. Wonder why a small patch of hair on the forehead can create such fuss in women’s lives?

Since body positivism is spreading like a wildfire, it is high time that women surrender to change.

Unibrows are not a turn off! Check out why men feel attracted towards women with Unibrow. Unibrows are considered just as attractive and beautiful as separate eyebrows. They portray innocence, honesty and courage, since it’s not easy to challenge a well accepted and respected beauty standard. One more pros of having a Unibrow is that you don’t have to fix appointments with the Parlor aunty from time to time. You can just roam around flaunting your Unibrow.

The Unibrow movement

In the Unibrow movement, many women have posted their pictures with Unibrow to spread the message of body positivism. Many have called unibrows ‘it’s just some hair’ it is not actually a big deal. But companies and beauty parlors have always encashed on insecurity of women.

With products and services to only lure women, they have carefully laid down the definition of beauty in their own way. Portraying your natural self on social media platforms is not a cakewalk. Hence, the Unibrow movement became big as it started. The Unibrow movement gave an opportunity to all the young girls out there to speak up, post pictures and embrace their definitions of beauty.

A strong brow = a strong woman. Now that you know everything about Unibrow, you know that there is nothing to be ashamed of. Notice all these signs about being a Unibrow girl and flaunt them with ease. Eyebrows are weird and wonderful just the way they are, by taming them with tools and products, we are only snatching the natural beauty from it. So no more feeling bad about having a Unibrow. You are a Unibrow girl and you know how to own it.

What is cartilage piercing?

Cartilage is a connective tissue that is thicker than the skin but weaker than the bone. The piercing of the ear cartilage goes right through the “harder” tissue (cartilage) in the ear and then out of the back.

Types Of Cartilage Piercings

Cartilage piercings have different names depending on the cartilage region being pierced. Read below to find out where each piercing is located and what kind of jewelry you should wear with each of these piercings.

Outer Conch and Inner Conch

Conch piercings pass through the center of the ear shell, which is also the thickest area in the ear. The part of your ear that looks like a seashell is known as a conch. At the bottom portion of the middle of the ear is the outer conch. The inner conch piercing passes into the upper-middle shell of the ear, which is a little closer to the ear canal, over the outer conch.

The conch piercings are worn with jewelry that has a straight post like a barbell, flat back barbell, or push-pin posts. Circular barbells and captive rings are often painful for long-term wear in conch piercing.

Tragus

A tragus piercing passes right in front of the ear canal, known as the tragus, across the middle of the thin cartilage flap. This piercing is not advisable for an initial cartilage piercing because it can be a little hard to do when the tragus is small or dense. The proximity to the ear canal is also a concern.

The initial piercing is typically done at 16G with a straight barbell, flat back barbell, or a threadless post. You can transform the jewelry into a prison ring, hoop, circular barbell, or curved barbell, after healing.

Antitragus

Piercings of the Antitragus run through the cartilage liner or ridge between your tragus and the ear lobe. For this piercing to work, the antitragus must be very prominent. Antitragus is usually pierced by a 16G with a curved or flat barbel to leave space for swelling. You may transform into a captive ring or circular barbell until the piercing is cured.

Helix

The helix piercing is the official name for the upper ear piercing and one of the most common cartilage piercings we know and love! Depending on your ear and the jewelry you choose to wear, helix piercings are usually pierced with a captive ring, circular barbell, or straight barbell at a small gauge, anywhere from 18 G to 14 G, one of the most common cartilage piercings.

Forward Helix

The forward helix piercing is on the same cartilage ridge as the helix piercing, but it is located right above the tragus. Most individuals opt for 2 or 3 vertically oriented ear piercings, and this is considered a double or triple forward helix.

For curing forward helix piercings, straight barbells, flatback barbells, and threadless/push pin posts are used. To accentuate the ear, there are several choices for end pieces, but you should wait until the piercing is healed to turn to a captive ring, circular barbell, or seamless ring. Forward helix piercings are much more difficult than traditional helix piercings because to sit well, they need to be lined up to your anatomy.

Industrial

Usually, the industrial piercing consists of two piercing parts, an external helix piercing, and a forward helix piercing attached to an extended straight barbell. The industrial piercing was first developed as edgier piercing cartilage in the 1990s since it was not as fragile as other cartilage piercings would look. For this reason, it is normally pierced to 14G. Typically, an existing cartilage piercing cannot be taken to become an industrial piercing, so all piercing has to be properly matched. Industrial piercings were once restricted to the barbel of stainless steel, but now there are customized barbels specifically designed for industrial with decorative highlights or curves to the bar and more decorative ends.

Orbital

The orbital piercing is technically two piercings, with a captive ring or a seamless ring linking the two together. It looks like the jewelry covers the ear, so the orbital piercing is named. The helix, the inner conch, and the rook can be turned into the orbital piercing.

Rook

The rook piercing is a vertical piercing in the cartilage fold above the tragus, also called the anti-helix, which lies in the conch. Initially, rook piercings are drilled with a 16 G curved barbell. After recovery, the barbell may be turned into a captive ring, but this is great for curved barbells as it is visible from the front of the ear with both ends.

Snug

The snug piercing is a horizontal piercing by the cartilage fold over the antitragus which leads to the conch to the end of the ear. Snug piercings are normally drilled with a curved 16 G barbell. The curved barbell is the best way to pierce this, as the ends of the barbell rest smoothly against the ear.

Daith

The Daith piercing passes right above the ear canal through the smallest cartilage fold on the ear. The piercing is behind and over the tragus, which floats somewhat before the conch. It is pierced at a 16 G with a ring or a seamless ring. Daith piercing is one of the few cartilage piercings that encourage a captive ring or other ring jewelry. Some rings are shaped like hearts, stars, new moons, etc.

Do’s and Don’ts of Cartilage Piercing

Go to a professional piercing shop

The risk of infection and complications in the new piercing as they recover will minimize if you go to a reputable piercing shop for your cartilage piercing. A piercing shop uses sterilized equipment and has quality jewelry so that the piercings are well healed. Avoid going out to places that use piercing guns because they can’t be sterilized and the cartilage may be harmed by the impact of the penetrating.

The healing time is more than an earlobe piercing

Cartilage piercings can take longer to heal than other piercings: from four months up to 1 year depending on the location of the piercing. Cartilage piercings heal outside in, so they might appear healed before they actually are.

Avoid public bodies of water, sleeping on it and touching it as much as possible

While the piercing of cartilage is healing: do not go to the pool or jacuzzi, to the beach or the lake, or take your baths and immerse your ears. Try to avoid sleeping on the piercing. Be vigilant about the hair and the clothes, do not snag the piercings.

Watch out for infection

Be sure to keep an eye on redness, severe swelling, sharp pain, or bleeding. These are possible symptoms of infection, and you may want to deal with them instantly to avoid harming your ear cartilage.

Don’t take the jewelry out if it does get infected

Piercings of cartilage are distinct from piercings of soft tissue. Do not remove the jewelry if the cartilage is infected. If you remove the jewelry, it will trap your ear for the infection and cause harm to your cartilage. Maintain the jewelry to drain and treat the infection.

Aftercare

Cartilage piercings can take a while to heal depending on what type of piercing it is, they can be from months to one year anywhere. It’s more about cartilage than mere skin piercing. The jewelry should be kept inside during the healing phase if it’s taken out the piercing might close. It is necessary to cleanse the piercing twice a day while it is healing. A saltwater soaking is a perfect way to do this.

We all have a love-hate relationship with our bras. Every woman loves to wear a sexy lacy bra. But the thing we love more is to take it off as soon as we reach home. Right kind of bra provides the necessary support, whereas the wrong one can be an absolute pain. If you have a pair of mammary glands that need constant containment, you’d totally get the following:

Comfortable Is Not Equal To Sexy

Every woman loves to wear an attractive lacy bra in a party or when they have to go on a date. But they forget that they are not that much comfortable. I don’t know why all the comfortable bras look plain ugly? We have yet to find a bra which is attractive as well as comfortable.

Love-Hate Relationship With The Transparent Strap

Transparent straps are ideal for wearing a strapless top or dress and can also be used as a halter or cross-back straps. But can you rely on these straps for everyday use? The answer is no because these straps would give up after hardly a day’s use. After which you will have to bear the torture of those elastic straps.

Bra Sweat

Bras twist and squeeze your boobs together, creating a perfect environment for sweat to build up. It’s pretty gross and can lead to harsh rashes on the skin. It’s very unhealthy and can lead to serious skin problems.

Unfairly Expensive

There are cheap bras out there, but their fabric quality is really low. You can buy them if you don’t mind the underwire stabbing you constantly. You will have to spend a pretty big chunk of your pocket money or your job paycheck on any quality bra. That’s really unfair.

Back Pain

Some women have a mindset that wearing a bra whole day is mandatory. The bra provides a perfect support to the breasts, but wearing it whole day has its own cons. Wearing a bra whole day can lead to some serious back issues.

Going Braless

It feels so amazing to unhook and finally take off the bra at the end of the hard day. The feeling can’t be expressed by words. It’s liberating, to say the least. It feels like the world around you has changed.

There’s nothing worse than your favourite bra breaking or wearing out to the point where you can no longer wear it. And, there will be a bra that you just can not bear to part with! We’ve looked and found some great hacks and tips to help you fix common bra problems and breakages.

1 – Underwire popped out

The most tragic of bra woes. You don’t have to buy a whole new bra if the underwire starts to come out. Not to worry, it’s actually easy to fix this one. If the end of the wire is sharp and poking, wrap a small piece of duct tape around the top of it. Push the wire gently back into place, and then cover the hole with superglue. Make sure the edges of the fabric stick firmly! Now you can sew a small strip of fabric over it. Something like felt, velvet or moleskin can help making it comfortable enough. If you’re out and feel the wire poking, visit a shop and buy a maxi pad it will guard against poking wires until you get home.

2 – Stretched out straps

Over time, the elastics in a bra will wear out and lose their stretch. Don’t hang them or they’ll lose their shape. And never put them in the dryer! The heat will cause the elastic to wear away faster. If the straps of your bra are easy to go, you can do a quick adjustment or take it to a tailor if you’re not confident at sewing. All you need to do is mark the adjustment point, and then find a point where the strap is already sewn usually just underneath the slider. Undo the stitching, set the desired length, trim the excess and stitch it back down – voila! You can either use a sewing machine or sew it by hand but be sure to stitch enough to keep it secure and stable.

If you don’t want to start cutting and sewing, you can try a magic clip or racer back clip –you can even alter the length of the bra straps using these, or just use a bra clip to pin your straps together temporarily. A paperclip works too, in a pinch.

3 – Rips and tears

Just like all other pieces of clothing, bras also wear out and develop rips and tears in the fabrics. If the hole is too big and it may be of no longer use then it may be the time to say goodbye. But depending where it is torn and the size, you may be able to stitch it back. You can even try covering it with a beautiful lace or a patch. You can always match it on the other side so that it looks designer and unique.

4 – Bent hooks

There’s nothing worse than spending your money on a bra only to have a hook come off in the washer. If the hook fastening on your bra clasp is out of shape, such that you cannot hook it back or too far outwards then you can fix this easily. Just get a pair of pliers (needle nosed ones would be best as they’re slim and tapered, making them easy to get into those fiddly bits) and carefully bend the hook back into place. Every time you put a bra on and take it off, it’s putting pressure on those tiny little hooks. If a hook has completely fallen off then you may need to replace these and sew the new ones. Let’s face it, some people are just in-between bra sizes. You can just add bra back extenders to the back of your bra and you’ll instantly get a better fit without the hassle.

5 – Stretched out band

Just like your bra straps, excessive heat can damage the elastics in the band of your bra too – as well as the fact that elastics do wear out over time when used regularly. It is always advised to fit a bra on the loosest hook in the beginning so that you can tighten it as it stretches out over time. Sometimes though, your bra is still in new condition just the band elastics have to loosen up, or maybe you’ve lost some weight recently and don’t want to throw out a bra that still fits well in the cup. It may look difficult, but if you have a sewing machine it is easy. All you need to do is unpick the hook and eye components from either end of the band, and cut off the excess bra band. Now sew back the hook and eye fastenings, and there you go – a simple way to shorten the band of your bra.

6 – Discolouration

Sometimes a bra may get discoloured over time. The reasons could be-sweat, deodorant, body lotion, a colour transfer from your clothes – anything! Most of the time, all you need to do is clean it thoroughly. You can deep clean your bras by making up a simple baking soda and water paste to spread over the discoloured area. Leave it to set in and then rinse and wash as usual to reveal your shining clean bra!

7 – Backless and strapless support

Over time, if the elastics in a bra have worn out and lost their stretch, but the cups are still a perfect fit and in good shape. You can reuse the cups and sew them into a dress or top to add some support. It is quite easier to do with padded or moulded cups as they provide a proper structure of their own. Put on your bra, and put on your backless or strapless dress or top. Use some pins to hold the cups in place, and then carefully take the outfit off together. Once the cups are attached properly, you can cut the extra straps along the band and now you can wear that outfit with grace and comfort and whenever you wish to!

Going on a date? This article is just for you. Let’s face it. No matter how mature we think we are, when it comes to dating a girl, we don’t know how to even properly kiss her. Let us make it easy for you!

My first dating experience could have turned into a nightmare, if I had not prepared for it. Let me tell you exactly what happened. I was in college and I had a crush on a girl from my batch. After a lot of efforts, motivation and what not I was able to ask her out. I was excited as she said yes to go out for a dinner. Yes, I was nervous too, very nervous indeed and let me admit I googled everything just to get my first kiss right. Finally, when that moment came, I did it. It was amazing and something that I will never forget. Could that be better? Yes, of course! That’s why I am here today to share everything I know about kissing a girl. I’ll be sharing some bonus tips as well so that she wants to kiss you again.

1. Go slow

Touch her in a sensual manner. Touch her arms, her hand. One of the favorites of all times, a kiss placed on the backside of a person’s palm shows your respect and love for the person.

2. Stop talking and make eye contact

You need to stop talking and communicate your intentions by looking at her mouth. Now it’s time to make an eye contact so that you know if she is ready. Move to the next level. Touch her neck and play with her hair. Keep yourself composed and don’t stick your tongue out. You are going to kiss her not lick her.

3. Tease her

Tease her by kissing her neck on one side of her face, kiss her cheek. Go for the lips. Move your hands behind her neck and just stay there for a while. Now hormones will do their job and you both can now officially go wild.

An intimate yet subtle single lip kiss in which you suck one of your partner’s lips between yours. This kiss is a part of foreplay that can lead to a lot more. This is the usual type of kiss which is preferable on kiss day.

Bonus Tip

Keep some lip balm in your bag if your lips are dry, she is not expecting them to be very dry.

And no one likes to dive in saliva. So don’t push your tongue very hard. Try starting out small and slow with no tongue. Go with the flow and you will realize your kiss getting more passionate.

Please remember, if you think she is not ready, don’t push it. Back off. Respect her and enjoy the dinner. Kissing may not happen on a first meeting but it’s better to be prepared because it’s such an important moment. Who knows?

So next time you are on a date, instead of ruining it for her make it special for both of you.

I remember the first time I had to buy a bra, I wasn’t even sure I needed it! I didn’t want to shove my sensitive chest into something that looked so restricting. I unfortunately didn’t have a say in the matter, and now here I am, fifteen years later, telling you what to look out for! Getting a first bra is a really big deal for any girl. You might feel excited about it, or embarrassed, or a mixture of both. This is normal, and you shouldn’t worry about it. There are ways to tell when you need a bra, but it’s important to remember that every girl is different, and you might develop at a different pace than your friends, and that’s okay! If this is a question that you’ve been having, we’ve outlined some of the things that you can look out for to help you make a decision.

Look for breast buds poking through your shirt: If you see these small breast buds, it might be time to get that first bra. Breast buds are small bumps that appear under each nipple and you might experience some tenderness or soreness when breasts begin to bud; this is normal, and nothing to be concerned about. It just means you are starting to develop. Next, the nipples and areola – the darker, circular patch of skin around the nipples- will get darker and bigger. Then the breasts will start to grow more, at first perhaps having a pointy shape. Breast buds are an indicator that you’re on your way to developing a full bust, but if you want to wait for a bit before you don that bra, that’s okay too!

Know when you might need one: The average age for a girl to start wearing a bra is around age 11. That being said, some girls need one earlier- by age 8- while others don’t need one until they are 14. Every girl is different and her body develops differently. There is a certain amount of peer pressure that comes into making this decision, as girls with (bigger) breasts are fetished all over the world; sometimes girls who aren’t really that developed ask to wear a bra because their friend is wearing one. Ideally this shouldn’t be a factor, but we all know how tumultuous adolescence is. If you really want to, but don’t need to, you could start out by trying a training bra. Either way, you should not worry about whether you are developing like other girls, as everyone moves at their own pace, and that’s okay! There will be more important things to worry about.

Recognize the signs of puberty: Developing breast buds is just one of the many changes a girl will experience as she starts to enter puberty. You might start to grow pubic hair; in some girls, pubic hair actually develops before breast buds appear. Puberty can also cause a girl to gain some weight, especially in the belly area, making it look more rounded; this is a natural sign that a girl is starting to mature physically. Finally, menstruation is also an indication, although your periods might be very infrequent at first. All of these things are normal signs of puberty and they can help you figure out if your body is ready for a bra.

I’m sure you have a lot of questions that need answering. The best person to go to is a close female relative- be it your mother, aunt, sister or grandmother- and talk to her about the process of puberty. For many girls, getting her first bra is a complicated experience; you might worry about being teased by boys or other girls if you are developing faster – or slower- and the insides of a middle school classroom are not the most accepting space.

You must remember that your body is going through a lot of changes and being sensitive to this change is very normal. It is important to ask the questions that you have, so that you are better equipped to deal with your body’s changes and be honest about how you feel, nobody is going to hold it against you. This is a crucial time for girls, as it is the first time they are being exposed to the standards of beauty that exist for women, and you might even encounter a couple of situations where other girls are being discriminated against because they might not be developing at the same pace that other girls are.

You MUST realize that women are beautiful no matter the size of their breasts, because too many people and institutions will tell you otherwise. It doesn’t matter what the billboards and magazines tell you, you’re a woman no matter what size and shape you are!

This statistic has been mentioned before, and it shall be mentioned again, to make a point if nothing else: 75-80% of the women who wear bras, wear it in the wrong size! While we hope that this is not true, we have to face some facts. One of which is that our bodies are constantly changing, in as short a time span as a year, especially as our weight fluctuates. It could be a result of a pregnancy, nursing or simply the factor of getting older. So if you feel that your bras are fitting you a little different than they were, and you’re looking for something that is a little bit more your size, we’ve got you covered. We’ve outlined the steps necessary to help you figure out what your correct size is.

Step 1: Measure your band size

While braless or wearing a non-padded bra, measure around the bottom of the band, directly under your bust. The measuring tape should be parallel to the ground and very snug. Once you have your measurement, round it off to the nearest whole number. If the number is even, add four inches. If it’s odd, add five. Your band size is the sum of this calculation. (So if you measured 32 inches, your band size is 36. If you measured 33 inches, your band size is 38.)

Step 2: Measure your cup size

This is where it gets slightly tricky. While wearing a non-padded bra, stand straight with your arms at your sides and measure loosely around the fullest part of your bust (across your nipples preferably), with the tape straight across and around your back. Once you have done this, subtract your band measurement (from step 1) from your bust measurement.

The difference calculates your bra size – each inch represents a cup size. For example, if you measure a 34 inch band size, and a 36 inch cup size, the difference is 2: which would indicate a B cup.

If you’ve managed to do well so far, go and pick out your bra! While you’re at it, here are some more things to keep in mind:

Bend forward at the waist and then hook on your bra, this will ensure that both your breasts are in their respective cups.

Adjust the band so that the back of the bra is level with the front of the bra.

Make sure your bra is not too loose: you should be able to fit only one finger under your band.

Make sure your straps are sitting comfortably.

Pull on a tight fitting t-shirt over your bra; if your breasts bulge or your cups pucker, you’re not wearing the right size.

Look at yourself sideways in the mirror to make sure that your breasts are positioned halfway between your elbows and shoulders. If they aren’t, you need a more supportive bra.

If you need to go down a cup size for fit, go up one band size, and vice versa. For example, if a 34C is too big for you, move to a 36B.

Pick a bra that fits properly when it’s secured on the outermost hook; you should only move on to the other hooks when the outer one is no longer tight enough.

There’s your guide to fitting yourself! Hopefully with some practice and experience, you will be a pro in no time and will definitely be able to tell the difference that it makes to your everyday life. Oh, you’re welcome.

What does the inside of your lingerie drawer look like? Chances are that it doesn’t look like it’s supposed to; I’ve seen a lot of women’s cupboards and most of their lingerie drawers look like an explosion of lace. If you’re part of the population- which is a majority, let’s be honest- that has a drawer that looks like what I’m describing, this post is for you!

When we’re going to a job interview, we want to look professional; for a night out, we want to get dressed up; and for a night in, it’s pajamas all the way. And unless you’re frequently going commando, underwear is a big foundation for all of those outfits. Before we get dressed in any kind of clothing, we’re reaching for our knickers and bras first. And that first step should be as easy as it possibly can be.

See also:

How to Wash Bras in Washing Machine

How To Wash Bras With Hands

The Ultimate Guide To Buying A Bra For Big Breasts

Now we all know how temperamental bras can be; not only do they do frustrating things while you’re wearing them, like sliding down your shoulder as the most inopportune moments, digging into your skin without warning and leaving little ridges in their place, turning into a little mini pool of sweat whenever it’s hot out (breast sweat is really the worst) – but they are a pain to take care off when not on your body as well! Bras need to be stored and organized in a very specific way in order for them to stay intact and in shape. And with the amount that they cost, you really should be taking better care of them, i.e, not shoving them in your lingerie drawer where ever you find space. Molded bras are difficult to store, I can understand, and in our frustration we might just end up folding them, but that’s a big no! In doing so, you’re ensuring that you slowly destroy them. And there really is nothing worse than having a bra die before its time, especially if you could have done something to stop it. Therefore, in interest of our lace friends, we’re going to give you some tips on how to store your bras and panties, youu can thank us later.

Get to cleaning: I know you’ve got a couple (or few) items in there that you haven’t really used in ages; a strapless bra that no longer fits you, a pair of panties that are ridiculously old, but also ridiculously comfortable. Yes those, get rid of them. Not only are they unhygienic, they’re also taking up valuable space. Unless they’re staples and you know you can’t do without them, toss them out. Sort through your things and reduce your collection to only the items you need, so you won’t have to deal with unwanted and unused panties in the future.

Folding is key: Do NOT crumple your panties and throw them into the drawer. It might seem like folding them is a waste of time, but trust me, it’s really not. And yes, there actually is a way to fold them! It’s all about the one-two-three trick; take one side and fold it in, and do the same to the other side. Then fold the bottom in, and voila! Your underwear is folded. Sounds simple enough, convincing yourself that it’s the right thing to do is the hard part.

Line ‘em up: Now for the bras; thankfully, they don’t need to be folded, and shouldn’t either. Shoving your bras in a drawer crumples them up, which can throw off the molding and even cause the underwire to get stuck in a position where it tears through the fabric. Save your bras by lining them up like you see them in the store. Not only does this protect them, but it also fits better and makes it easier to find the one you want.

Rack ‘em: If you’ve got a lot of bras and not enough space to keep them all, you can explore other options. The problem is that different styles need to be stored differently, and a DIY rack is a solution to this conundrum! Plus, your bras are going to look great when they’re on display like this.

Hang ‘em: Don’t want to DIY anything? Simply hang your bras over the bar of one hanger using the gore in the middle. This probably won’t hold as many, you you’ll need a couple of hangers at least. This might make it a little hard to see what’s on the other side of the hanger that’s not facing you, but it’s the lazy woman’s easy solution!

Side to side: Instead of lining them up in a vertical line, make it a horizontal one – that way you can see all the bras, and not just the ones in the front. A wide drawer, that is normally found in a chest of drawers, would be an ideal size for this.

Get organised: Being organized is definitely easier when you have helpful organizational tools. These can be bought in stores/online, but you can also use items that are readily available in most homes! Whether it’s a cardboard box, an old shoe box, or even plastic containers, if you think it’s a good size for your lingerie and underwear, then it will probably work. Use however many you think would be best for your drawer/closet/cabinet.

Sort them: With the help of the aforementioned organising tools, you can sort your lingerie by type, use and colour. The ones that get used most often- the blacks and the nudes- should ideally be up front, while the lacy and fancy ones, should be kept at the back. It makes it easy to reach out for them and put them back every day. You can do the same for your underwear! Separate them into type and use, and stick some post-its on there if you need to, and you’re good to go!

Stuck in heavy traffic? Guess who’ll slide through all the vehicles? Two wheelers of course!

Two wheelers are the best. And it’s even easier to learn to ride them.

Know how to ride a bicycle? Great!

Don’t know how to ride one? Not a problem!

In this article, we’ll tell you how easy it is to learn scooty without knowing the bicycle. Let’s get started

#Step 1: Get your learner’s license –

Once you’re finished learning the basic traffic rules and regulations, sign boards and other signals, it is mandatory to get yourself a learner’s license. Not just that, you’d require your scooty’s registration, insurance and other relevant documents aligned before hitting the road with your new found love.

Always make sure that you have all the documents handy with you whenever you hit the road.

#Step 2: Balance is the key here –

Ask an experienced rider to drive your scooter, such as a wide parking lot or open garage, to an open practice area. Now, get on the scooty with confidence and trust.

In case you are tall enough, put your feet flat on the ground, then you can put one foot on the scooty and another one in the field. Make a strong grip over the handlebars afterwards.

Try on the Scooty to support yourself.

#Step 3: Try some ‘at home’ exercises –

You can start by balancing yourself over it and trying to ride in straight directions, whichever scooter is your concern. Keep practicing this step in a straight direction until you are great at locomoting yourself.

Turn the handlebars to the right to balance the slope if the scooter leans to the right. The scooter leans to the left, and the handlebars turn to the left. This holds the scooter upright because of the front fork’s “rake” and “trail” on just two wheels. Practice riding at various velocities in as straight a line as possible before making an intentional turn.

You can try steering the scooter in the left or right direction after practicing and learning locomotion in a straight direction. Start going in a straight direction and attempt to steer to the left or right. Practice this until you’re great at directing your scooter in any direction you like.

Since you have learnt moving and steering your scooty in a straight direction, you can now try this exercise of riding the scooter on the ground in a circular pattern. Which means, you startmoving your scooty in a straight direction, and steer in that particular direction. Keep your steering handle bar in the same direction, so that you keep on riding in a circular pattern. Keep practicing this.

Now once you’re finished learning to ride in different directions, you can start with the pattern ‘8’. You start riding in a straight direction and steer in one direction, complete a circular pattern and then immediately steer in the opposite direction to complete another circular pattern. Keep steering in both directions after completing circular patterns.

#Step 4: Hit the road –

Get the scooter started and put your helmet on. Make sure it fits nice and tight and does not shift about constantly on your head. To stop forgetting, always wear a helmet when riding your scooter, and always put it on before climbing on your scooter.

Now, since you have safely started your scooter, let ‘s start riding it. When you are riding it for the first time, please make sure you are on a nice, smooth surface. So start leaving the brake lever slowly after starting the scooter and you will find that the scooter has started going forward. Gradually, with the help of the accelerator, leave the brake lever full, put your legs up on the footboard and start giving it a throttle.

Slightly twist the throttle and you will find you’ve reached 30-40 kmph in no time. Don’t cross 40 kmph as you are a novice and keep riding on a straight road, at a steady pace. You can try sitting in a constant position, and maintain balance of the vehicle. You can keep your legs down if you are afraid.

Train starting and stopping while turning as a rider to hone your abilities. These movements on the road, such as stop signs and traffic signals, will often be required.

It is great to have an experienced rider follow behind while riding on the road for the first time to give you pointers on the route. There is no substitute for experience here, so do not drive on the street at any time above your skill level.

#Step 5: Break and turn –

So, now that you’ve started riding a scooter at a decent pace and know how to balance it, the next thing you need to know is how to apply the brakes. As mentioned earlier, the right lever is the front brake, while the left lever is handled by the rear brake. By applying the rear brakes, i.e. by pressing the left lever, try to gradually decrease the vehicle’s speed.

Don’t hit the brake button suddenly, as the tyres may skid. Apply the front brake after hitting the reaching your destination to stop it completely. You need to place your one leg on the ground to turn the scooter, and show the handlebar its direction. At slow speed, turn the vehicle and use the brakes accordingly.

#Step 6: Taste the traffic –

Now that you know all the basic stuff about a scooter and know how to handle it properly, it’s time for you to take it on the roads. If you are riding on the city’s main roads, it is advisable that you take someone with a driving licence as the pillion.

You need to drive on the main roads and learn how to navigate through the traffic in order to become a good rider. Depending on the traffic situation, you must continuously adjust the acceleration, throttle response and apply brakes. Don’t lose your faith, ride with great confidence, but don’t be overconfident.

Pro tip: Do not race on public roads.

Happy Riding!
